My Tree

Before all of this started, Russ and I talked a lot about nature, about feelings, and needs. It was a journey for us as well. As we talked we shared the weird things that we do that turned out to not be so weird. Meaning, we both did the same thing.

I've worked at Timpanogos Cave National Monument for a few years now, on the trail there is a tree. He's beautiful. He's mine. As Russ and I would hike together I would always touch this same tree, sometimes for a long time and sometimes for a few seconds. For a long time Russ just let it slide and didn't say a word about it. As time progressed he eventually asked me about it.

I didn't really have a good answer, I like touching all trees. But this one was special to me, I thought about it for a long time and realized that it was refreshing. (Call me a tree hugger, I don't mind, you wouldn't be the first.) Touching trees fills me with fresh life.

It's as if the tree pulls my stresses from me and replaces them with strength. Even as a National Park Employee work can be rough, I found my way to cope with hard days. How do you use your greentrovertism so make your days better?
