Architecture

Most of the buildings around us are made to shelter us from the harsh world around us. In the Middle of the Utah winter I'm grateful for that! Yet, there is a part of all of us that long to be outside. That's why we have windows.

The need for the outdoors, however, is powerful even in the face of our deepest concrete canyons - perhaps at its strongest. Our oldest structures were built to provide us with a connection to each other and the outside. Temples, cathedrals, parks, green spaces... We are constantly bringing nature inside, into our space and decorating our homes and neightborhoods with it.

Perhaps our need fo protection is undone by our need for nature.
"The good building is not one that hurts the landscape, but one which makes the landscape more beautiful than it was before the building was built"
- Frank Lloyd Wright
